Air Raid Shelter

Work is progressing well on the Stanton air raid shelter that has been erected on the northern side of the control tower. Both end elevations have now been bricked and doors fitted. Internal seating benches are now installed giving school visits an extra insight into wartime life.

Currently the members of the Saturday morning working party are close to completing the blast walls on the southern elevation, it is hoped to complete all these walls over the winter period in order for the shelter to be cover with earth in the spring.

Anderson Shelter

On Saturday November 3rd, a number of our group members travelled to St.Clears to dismantle an Anderson air shelter. The steel sections were transported back to Carew for a renovation programme to begin.

Book Release

Yet another mention for The Carew Cheriton Control Tower Group. A new book entitled The Military Airfields Of Britain - Wales and West Midlands gives good coverage of the airfield and the group.
